ADJELEIAN ALLEN RUBELI LIMITED
CONSULTING STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS
Toronto SkyDome is a unique, state-of-the art, world class, award winning, multi-purpose stadium with a retractable roof, and a 370-room hotel. The roof, consisting of 4 separate panels, with a total of approximately 8,000 tonnes of structural steel, spans 208 metres at its widest point, and can support over 600 tons of user loads hung from the inside. The SkyDome, constructed on an ultra fast-track basis, is the largest design-built project ever built in Canada. Adjeleian Allen Rubeli Limited received numerous awards for its role as the Structural Engineers for this project, including the Schreyer Award in 1990 for the best engineering project in Canada. Our firm was part of a design build team throughout the design and construction period. During the design stage weekly design meetings were held, in which the Contractor and the principal sub-contractors participated with the design team to resolve numerous issues for this one of a kind building structure. Due to the complexity of the project, there was a peer review team assigned by the Owner, that worked with the design team throughout the design process to ensure no disruption in this fast track project.
